The cost data held in the database has been further analysed to explore the variability of costs and the factors influencing costs.
This has been done using a cost function approach. The cost function has also been used to develop a tool that provides estimate mean
costs of inpatient and outpatient services for each state. Technical efficiency analysis is being carried out explores the efficiency
of different facilities and why these vary.
